A NOTE FROM CHRISTIE...

MY JOURNEY

Growing up, I was a generally healthy kid apart from a few scrapes and broken bones. But at 15, things took a turn as I developed glandular fever. It completely wiped me out for weeks, barely being able to get off the lounge and being sent home regularly from school.

That’s when my health issues truly began. I developed a severe staph infection on my legs, which caused painful boils and led to a year-long dependence on antibiotics. As a self-conscious 15-year-old, my mother was desperate to help after I was left with an array of health issues. My hormones were a mess, my skin was breaking out, and my moods became unbearable.

My mother decided to take me to see a herbalist who, 20 years later, is still part of my health journey. That visit changed everything. My health returned, and I saw results that conventional medicine never gave me. That’s when my love and curiosity for natural therapies truly began.

Things were going well until I turned 21. I had just begun my hairdressing apprenticeship when my health started to decline once again, recurring strep throat, ruptured ovarian cysts, hormonal imbalances, and the list went on. At the time, I assumed it was all connected to the demands of my job. What I didn’t realize was that around this same period, I had also received breast implants, a decision I would later come to deeply regret.

Over the next ten years, I moved in and out of hairdressing, convinced the salon chemicals were making me sick. My symptoms were relentless full-body pins and needles, fainting, migraines, gut issues, anxiety, depression, weight fluctuations, hair loss, hives, memory loss, fatigue, and more. I was tested for everything: MS, lupus, PCOS, endometriosis, IBS, and countless other conditions. After endless blood tests, CT scans, and MRIs, the doctors would always come back with the same answer: “There’s nothing wrong.”

It was then that I realised that conventional medicine could only take me so far. I began surrounding myself with incredible women who supported me through herbal medicine, chiropractic care, acupuncture, lymphatic drainage, remedial massage, and kinesiology. Through it all, the one thing that continued to anchor me was nutrition. My mother and grandmother always prepared nourishing, home-cooked meals made from whole foods, a habit I naturally adopted and truly believe kept my health from completely falling apart.

Then one day, a dear friend who was also treating me gently suggested that my implants might be the root cause. The penny dropped. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t seen it sooner. I was, in fact, suffering from Breast Implant Illness. Not long after, I made the decision to have them removed.

That period brought intense physical and emotional challenges.

My implants had both ruptured, and I had a double capsulectomy on each side, a rare occurrence, but a clear sign my body had been crying out for help.

Through this process, I knew I had to truly understand my body, how to detox, repair, and heal. That’s what led me to study a Bachelor of Clinical Nutrition. I thought long and hard about what path I wanted to take, and I kept coming back to the same thing...FOOD!!

During my surgery recovery, I was in my first year of study, which helped me understand how to best support my body pre-and post-explant. This played a vital role in my recovery.

Now, four years later, I’m a degree-qualified Clinical Nutritionist. Since having my implants removed, my health has transformed. I’ve been able to travel overseas, complete my studies, and help others with their health journey.

I believe that with the right support and guidance, anyone can create lasting changes to live a healthy life.

I see you, I hear you, and I’m here to help you find your way back.

I truly believe my purpose in this life is to guide others back home to themselves to help them reconnect with their bodies, rebuild trust in their own healing, and rediscover what it feels like to live in alignment.
